The play, performed at the now-closed Sakharov Center in Moscow, was a kind of continuation of the play "Native Land. Both professional and non-professional actors took part, mostly elderly people who had lived through the Soviet past. At the heart of the performance was a monologue based on the last word of Nikolai Bukharin, a former prominent Soviet party figure shot during the Great Terror of 1938. The play also included real-life stories of the participants themselves. Directly for this work I found a witness to the Stalinist terror of the 1930s-a woman whose father had been repressed when she was a child.
