This performance, which took place once in the foyer of Moscow’s Gogol Center, was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of demonstration in Red Square protesting the Soviet invasion of Czechoslovakia. Taking as a metaphor the notion that an unjust trial is a circus, I arranged the auditorium in a circle (circus) and placed the artists inside the circular arena. The performance included scenes of perjury at the trial by KGB officers, monologues of the unjustly convicted defendants, reprises by a white clown disguised as Gogol (genius loci), a mini-performance based on a political anecdote, and other "numbers".
